Walk for the light, not the distance
Start early for quieter paths and softer light, or go at dusk when the skyline switches on and the temperature drops.
The harbour looks different every twenty minutes. That is reason enough to slow down.

Bring water, leave the itinerary loose, and let the route decide where you stop. That is most of the advice anyone needs.
